Just saw a book at Barnes & Noble called something like (and it could be this exactly) “Confessions of a Media Manipulator,” by someone I’ve never heard of. Didn’t get past the cover, but it claimed today’s media is driven by blogs like Gawker, BuzzFeed and Huffington Post and that bloggers are slaves to money and deadlines.
Well, my posts have been linked to by Gawker a number of times, plus I’m a Huffington Post blogger and it’s unlikely I’m a slave to money (since I have none and nobody is offering me any) or, for that matter, to deadlines (as I have none). I don’t think I’ve ever driven anything, either, not even a car, as I have no license (well, maybe a couple of times).
I think the only manipulating the author ought be confessing to is of any John Q. Putz who puts out cash money to pick up his book.
